I took this trip with my husband at the end of last summer, and while I edited the photos and even shared a few awhile back, I've never shared a more complete set. It was such a surreal trip--full of fire and ice just as advertised. We started the trip by exploring Reykjavik and enjoyed some shopping, culture, and hot dogs.
After a day in the capital city, it was time for the adventure to begin and we left the big city behind us in favour of miles and miles of endless nature. We saw and hiked many gorgeous waterfalls, volcanoes, geysers, canyons, old lava fields covered in moss, gigantic glaciers and ice caves, snorkelled in between the tectonic plates of Eurasia and North America, took a boat ride in a lagoon filled with massive icebergs, took a side trip to a tiny island off the coast of Iceland, and soaked in a naturally heated river that was as warm as a hot tub.
After a week of all that--we had only covered half of the country! The views around each bend in the road were better than the last and it was a truly unforgettable experience. I hope these photos inspire you to visit this unique country--and if you need any travel tips about Iceland, don't hesitate to shoot me an email!
